I'm a Filipino

Dolphy, Regine Velasquez, Charice Pempengco, Hidilyn Diaz, and Manny Pacquiao -you are not a Filipino if you haven't heard any of them. Well you might, but only if you are living under a rock (*smirk*).

Are you there? Hey! It's me Casey and let me take you to my world where I prefer to talk about my thoughts through this blog.

As I write this, I'm waiting for my student pass to be approved by the Singaporean Private Education Department. Admittedly, I am one of the many Filipinos trying to migrate out of the Philippines with the hope of having a better chance in life. In other words, to earn more than what I earned here.

My mom was once told by her Chinese dad that the Philippines' money is soaring up to one's knee. It meant that this country I was trying to get out of had a big potential to be a powerhouse of trading and a lucrative market due to the country's undeniable vast agricultural possession. Thanks to our tropical geographical area, the botanical produce we have can be exported throughout different countries (hopefully all legally)  which will help our country to earn and be known.

I like listening to foreign songs and currently, the most anticipated by our 'kababayan' (A filipino term for fellow citizens) in every top chart are probably released by a different country too. K-pop, J-pop, and American songs are actually dominating our interests. Although this is a fact, many Filipino singers, songwriters, and music producers are diligently creating their art whole-heartedly to enrich the Music industry of the Philippines which we fully support as evidenced by many circulating videos showing that even foreigners enjoy it. I once read in the comment section of Pasilyo (by Sunkissed Lola) that a Korean netizen searched for it on the internet and learned the song after the Korean superstar IU sang it in one of her concerts. Seemingly underrated but we cannot deny the authentic beauty of our gawang likha. Not only in music, but also in clothing, movies, and handicrafts.

Truly, Filipinos' talent is astonishing!

This is why I will always be in awe of the country I came from. I am a Filipino by heart and even if I change my citizenship or land in a different country, I will always be proud that the root of my being is here, in the Philippines.
