Growing problem in Swine Raising in Batangas

Remember that Samgyupsal schedule you are dying to go for with your friends? Wear your shoes and go now before the restaurant runs out of meat! WAAAAAAA! 😑

The African Swine Fever or ASF that has made hog raisers frown in Cavite in the 2020 pandemic time has resurged -again!

A hundred million in losses have been recorded because of the growing problem the citizens of some towns in Batangas and other parts of the Philippines are facing due to the hogs' obtained ASF. It is an issue that requires the Government's attention since 10% of the meat supply we exported out of the country came from Batangas. Especially now that the Ber months are coming, demand for meat will rise more actively to bring forth to the table in time for Christmas and New Year.

It's not a feast without meat!

The vaccine for the hogs is ordered from Vietnam and is expected to reach the Philippines in September.  Looking at the timetable, quite a small preparation period for the swine raisers to meet the busy season.

In Bicol, the local government has advised its people to strengthen the  "Bantay ASF sa Barangay" program by administering strict rules. A 500-meter radius to ground zero depopulation of hogs in the affected area of ASF is carried out to control the number of its recurrence in other nearby municipalities. This is a necessity because we would not want to decrease any more number of meat delivered to satisfy our palette. Especially that mukbangs, buffets, and unlimited food to eat in restaurants are commercialized everywhere where meat, if not always, is much of the highlight in meals (makes you drool just by thinking about it).

If ASF still resurges in many towns of our country, we'll just make adjustments and maybe try the salad that your health-conscious tita has prepared in the handaan. It's not that bad... or is it? 😳
